The Malaspina-Grimaldi Castle, originally a military construction dating back to the 13th century, was transformed into a stately home in the 18th century after additions in previous periods, with Renaissance and Baroque wings, together with a valuable panoramic garden overlooking the valley below. It is characterized by a five-story circular tower with a spiral staircase built into the thickness of the walls that once housed the prisons: the internal walls still bear the writings and drawings made by some prisoners of the 17th and 18th centuries. It is currently owned by a branch of the de Rege di Donato family who oversaw its restoration and enhancement. The manor is part of the "Open Castles" system of Lower Piedmont.
