The group make their way deeper into the moon's core, reliving many of their previous battles.

As you'd expect, since Scarmiglione was the previous boss we had to face we will be facing off against the rest of the elemental archfiends...in the same order we fought them in the original game no less.

Cagnazzo is up next, and while he has a few new tricks up his sleeve, his battle is scripted the exact same as it was in the original. He will often begin to gather water around him, preparing to use Tsunami. When he begins to do this hit him with a lightning spell or a Heavenly Wrath to put a stop to it, he will attempt to use silence on you when you hit him with lightning, though, so be ready for that. Blizzaga will be your biggest damage dealer in this fight, so blast him with that whenever you can.
After he takes so much damage he will retreat into his shell and begin casting heal on himself, this is your queue to hit him with everything you've got since he's nearly defeated.
Once you win you'll get two chests with a Sage Staff and Sage Robe for a reward.

The next big fight is against Barbariccia, and I highly recommend bringing Kain along for this fight, since she will use her tornado ability to prevent you from damaging her and Jump will be the only thing you can hit her with to stop it. The other things to watch out for with her is the Tornado spell, which will reduce a party member down to single digit HP, and Stone Touch which will inflict gradual petrify.
Unlike the others, however, once you deal enough damage to her, she will cast Tornado on herself allowing you to end the fight.

Your reward for this battle is the Gugnir spear.

One thing I really wish Square would have chose to do for these revisits to past battles was instead of just throwing you against bosses you fought before like this with no real reason other than the enemies being controlled, would have been to make the fights a sort of manifestation of Cecil's battle to regain himself. My thought for this was since the crystals are unstable and shattering, they would behave weirdly, and with Cecil in the condition he is in, coming into contact with them would trigger the crystals to manifest in the form of a battle from his past, and by defeating them he slowly begins to regain who he is. This could have been done in such a way that Cecil wasn't required to be in the party through the entire first half of the dungeon as well.
Just a thought I had while recording this segment.

We've taken out three of the four Archfiends, and only one remains. This one has a special bonus that we can choose to do to get another reward. We'll be heading down and taking him on in the next segment.
