Hello, hello; we're back, and taking a second stab at lolo26's infamous Necrosis MO challenge:

This one has some familiar rules, but what makes it distinctive is how they combo together to make your overall supply of MP throughout the game finite. If you don't manage your MP and get the most out of it early on, you may well find the game to be in an unwinnable state much later on. You need to juggle what MP is needed to clear each boss with killing random enemies in order to power up your party for the tougher fights down the line.

What it boils down to is resource management. Taking less damage means more MP to use on attacking, rather than healing. And more attacking means more enemy kills for more EXP, which means higher Levels for more MaxMP. And given how tough some bosses are against magic attacks (looking at you Demon Gate), we can't afford to lose too many Levels or we won't have enough steam to power through.

The 1st Reactor is a straightforward example of what we're doing. We have to use two spells to kill the first two enemies in the game, which leaves us with just two spare spells once Guard Scorpion goes down. I'm planning to use the remaining three Bolts on lone Sweepers to pick up the most possible EXP before leaving; Cloud's HP/MP will be fully restored once we escape so we want everything to be used up before then. Our game-plan revolves around these mandatory restore points, as they're the only time that the party's MP will be replenished in this run.

Only a couple of people have actually finished this one, and there's no complete video run of it anywhere that I've seen; the furthest one made it past Proud Clod but no further. I've also had a stab at this one before using my old PS1 + Hauppage but I left that run unfinished; now I'm looking to tie up the loose thread.

Just a quick note; any and all changes to characters are purely cosmetic. Barret isn't packing more firepower just because he is now mostly made out of gun :D
