Patrol responded to Penwell Road near Turkey Top Road for a single-vehicle crash. Upon arrival, multiple bystanders were helping clean debris from the roadway and had moved the vehicle involved in the collision. The passenger complained of pain, and the driver was found sitting on the side of the roadway apologizing. As officers approached, an odor of alcoholic beverages was detected from the driver and her eyes were bloodshot. The driver admitted to swerving to avoid a deer and hitting a tree, resulting in significant damage to the vehicle.
Two empty Miller Lite cans were discovered in the back seat. Members of the Lebanon Township Fire Department arrived to assess the drivers condition and clean up a fluid spill. Unfortunately, the Body-Worn Camera (BWC) temporarily malfunctioned, but it was later restored after deactivating.
The driver admitted to consuming two alcoholic beverages. Due to suspicions of impairment, she agreed to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs). Regrettably, she failed the tests and was subsequently arrested at 22:39 hours. The driver was handcuffed and placed in the patrol vehicle while being read her Miranda Warning.
