On November 21, 2023, at approximately 12:55 AM, an officer observed an SUV driving erratically on SR 125. The vehicle was seen drifting into the eastbound lanes multiple times before making an abrupt turn. The officer initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as a woman, who explained she was tired and trying to get home. Two juveniles, were found asleep in the back seat.
Despite the woman's assertion that she had not consumed any alcohol, her behavior and speech raised suspicions of impairment. After demonstrating difficulty with field sobriety tests, she was arrested for OVI (Operating a Vehicle Impaired). During the search of her vehicle, officers discovered THC gummies, a loaded 9mm handgun, and a scale with a crystalline residue. The woman faced charges of Child Endangerment, Improperly Handling Firearms in a Vehicle, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The children were safely released and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
