Units were made aware of a dark green Jaguar that entered Mall property. This vehicle was involved in a motor vehicle burglary in Mahwah where credit cards were stolen, and later used by the suspects.
PO A located the suspect vehicle parked in the ground level of Orange Deck, with 1 occupant inside it. DB units responded to the mall to conduct surveillance on the vehicle.
While in the area of the mall, Det. B observed a male running through J Lot onto RT 124 west. This male matched the description of one of the males involved in the credit card fraud. Det. B attempted to make a pedestrian stop on the highway.
Det. C arrived on scene and Det. B was attempting to place the male under arrest. I assisted Det. B in attempting to place the male under arrest, which he was resisting. The male was guided to the ground and later placed under arrest.
During the altercation, the male incurred a few minor abrasions on his left hand and was also complaining of abdominal pain, resulting from Mexican food that he ate earlier in the day.
The male was later transported to the Hospital. The male was evaluated by hospital staff and was later released.
The male was later released on his own recognizance, pending his court date.
