Located at the end of Maple Hill Rd. near the greenhouses. Miami County tests their sirens on the 2nd Wednesday @ 10 AM, weather-permitting.
Not a whole lot to say about this one; came out to Tipp City on the 2nd Wednesday intending on filming one of their last 2 2001-SRNs that were installed in 1997, only to find upon getting here they'd already been replaced. I had no idea they had already replaced them as the old siren was still up when I visited this site in December 2020.
This siren was installed by WSS sometime earlier this year, my guess in the Springtime. In addition, AES Ohio (formerly Dayton Power & Light) also redid the utility lines around the siren at that time. It's got a serial number ending in A21, meaning it left the factory in January of this year. Based on the serial number (or what of it I could make out), this appears to be the 10,347th 2001-130 manufactured since production of the series began in January 2007.
Tipp City has 4 Federal Signal 2001-130's, all replacing 2001-SRNs which were installed in 1997 (the SRNs in turn replaced a Thunderbolt 1003, which was the city's only siren from 1976 until 1997). The first two 130s were installed in late 2019, and the remaining two were installed earlier this year.
