Franz Lizst was born in 1833 in Hungary. He began composing at the age of 8. He moved to Paris when his father died and lived for a time with his mother. While touring Europe for concerts, he dallied with Countess Marie d'Agoult who left her husband and had three children with Lizst, though he later lived with Princess Carolyne Sayn-Wittgewnstein in Weimar, the most productive years of his life. His daughter Cosima later married a famous pianist, Hans von Bülow, and eventually left him to become the second wife of composer Richard Wagner. Lizst was 75 when he died, leaving behind an extensive ands diverse body of work. Music is his "Rakoczy March."
