Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov was a Russian composer and another member of "The Five." He was born to an aristocratic family in 1844 and shared most of his musical life with a military career. He serves as an officer with the Imperial Russian Navy, and then later served as civilian Inspector of Naval Bands. He helped his bother composers in The Five by taking their first versions (usually for the piano) and converting them to full orchestration. So if you like Mussorgsky, for example, tip your hat in gratitude to Rimsky-Korsakov. His own best-known compositions are "Capriccio Espagnol," "Russian Easter Festival," and a glowing favorite "Scheherazade." For the last 15 years of his life, he suffered from angina. He finally died at home in 1908 at the age of 64. Music is Rimsky-Korsakov's "Procession of the Nobles."
