A Facebook Marketplace dirt bike sale turned deadly after a seller was allegedly handed fake money and chased the buyer down the street.
And this is one of the hardest lessons to talk about because the seller had every right to be angry.
He got cheated.
He got disrespected.
He had every reason to want to make it right.
But being right does not keep you alive.
According to reports, Joshua Swink was trying to sell a dirt bike when the deal went bad. Surveillance footage shows him confronting the buyer after realizing something was wrong. Moments later, shots were fired, and Swink was killed.
This is the part every gun owner needs to understand:
Your ego can write a check your situational awareness can’t cash.
If it’s not life or death, if it’s not serious bodily injury, take the L.
Get the plate.
Get the description.
Get it on video if you can.
Call the police.
Then go home to your family.
Because once you chase someone, corner someone, or try to force your property back, the situation changes. Even if you started as the victim, the law may not look at you that way when everything is over.
This isn’t about blaming the man who died.
It’s about learning the lesson before it becomes your story.
Being right is worth a lot.
It is not worth dying over.
