This $600 Rifle Might Be The Best AR Base To Build On
A while back, I said most people buying an AR-15 probably don’t need anything better than the Ruger Harrier.
A lot of AR guys did not like that.
But after spending more time with it, one question kept eating at me:
If a $600 rifle is already punching above its weight class, what happens when you stop treating it like a $600 rifle?
So I maxed it out.
Leupold LCO Pro F2. Magnifier. Laser aiming module. Surefire Scout Light. HUXWRX brake and suppressor. Bipod. Then I dropped a $450 Rare Breed FRT-15C3 trigger into it.
That sounds insane.
The trigger costs only $150 less than the entire rifle.
Then I took it to Texas in hundred-degree heat, didn’t lube it, and ran it mag after mag.
Zero stoppages.
Not one failure to feed. Not one hiccup. Nothing.
At some point, I stopped saying the Ruger Harrier is good “for the money.”
I just like this rifle.
If you’ve got $600 and a five-year plan, this might be the base you build on.
