We have visited Geary State Fishing Lake and Wildlife Area several times in the past, but we have always gone straight to Geary Falls via the trail across the dam. After doing a little research we discovered another trail on the other side of the lake. As luck would have it, one member of Marty's Crew was already familiar with the trail. Doug, who grew up in nearby Junction City, spent a lot of time at Geary Lake in his youth. Serving as a guide, Doug led us to several scenic points along the lake shore and to an alternate approach to the waterfall. In all it was a beautiful day for hiking in the Flint Hills and an excellent opportunity for outdoor exploration.
