Hello neighbors, it's Brad here from etrailer. And today on our 2026 Jeep Wrangler, we're going to be taking a look and installing the Blue Ox charge line. Now, charge lines are a great addition to really any flat towed vehicle, because as you're putting in your guide wiring, you can tap this into the 6-way, and through your umbilical, it's going to get a trickle charge through that wire and eventually trickle charge to the battery as you go down the road. So that way, if your braking system or any draw that you may have while it's in flat tow mode, it's not going to kill your battery. So that way, when you're at the campsite and you're ready to unhook, maybe go get groceries, you're not looking to jumpstart your vehicle. So, super easy installation.
And this one is actually really nice, some of the other ones out there are pretty basic, and honestly most charge lines are, they really just run power from the front to the battery, but this one will actually monitor and let you know what's going on and if it's actively charging, all with a small diode that will illuminate based on the color to let you know exactly what's going on. So being that this is super easy to install, I'll show you how I got it installed on our Jeep today, and that way you can get yours installed and not have to worry about jumpstarting that vehicle. Today we're going to be installing it on a 2026 Wrangler, but the concept's going to be essentially the same on every vehicle. But it does come down to doing this at the same time as your diodes, because this taps into our 6-way, and that's how we get the power. It's going to come from the seven-way on the RV through the umbilical, and go through the charging point on the 6-point, or, on our 6-pole, and eventually to the battery, and this little box here is going to let us know that it's all happening properly.
Now, this box is really going to just make sure everything's protected, it's going to protect against, you know, any temperature fluctuations, pulse width modulation, either way, it's going to make sure that it's not going to cause any damage to the battery. But we also have the LED function that can change colors depending on what's going on, so it's going to tell us if the battery's fully charged, if it's actively trickling, or if there's no charge. And we'll be hooking this up so we can see that function, but pretty simple here, it is labeled as far as where it all goes. So this is going to be 15 amps rated at 12 volts. You do need to make sure that you have at least 13.3 volts coming from the RV, so you may need to check your plug to make sure that's the case, but generally you're going to be fine.
So what we have is a long cable here that says RV. Now it's not necessarily going to the RV, this is going to the 6-pole that will connect to the RV. And something I'll say is, this looks to be, oh, pretty close to 10 foot, and that's something I've ran into in previous charge line kits, they're pretty simple, it's essentially just a wire that goes to a circuit breaker, but a lot of times you're getting pretty close to being short on wires, and you do have to make those connections with the ring terminals. It's a little more custom fit, but many times I run short on wire, you're not going to have that issue on this one, which is great. So from there, we do have just the car side, and this is going to be going to the positive post on our battery, and then the negative post to get our ground.
So, pretty simple overall. And to get this installed, you'll also see that there's two mounting tabs. So, we'll be able to put this in a spot where we can see it actively to be able to see the diode, or that light come on as necessary. But we do need to be close to the battery, so more than likely I'll have it kind of in this area. And then we're just going to run this up towards the front, where we're going to be putting this on the 6-pole. So, I'll get this installed and show you how it looks. Now, while trying to get this mounted up, while we have plenty of wire to get to our 6-pole, something that I noticed is, these wires theoretically should be enough to reach both the positive and negative, which it can.
