Hi, everyone. I'm Evangeline right here at etrailer. If you're looking to tow a little trailer with your 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5, well, this is going to be the ball mount that I suggest going with. This is going to be the etrailer adjustable ball mount. It has a rise and drop position. I highly recommend using the rise position since you have a pretty low hitch.
So let's go take a look at it. Now, this is going to be a ball mount that fits into the two-inch hitch receiver, (metal chimes) just like that. So when you are ready to tow your trailer, you just grab this ball mount, fit that into your hitch receiver, line up the hitch pin holes, and the pin and clip match the coating that you can see here on our ball mount. I really like that coating. It has that gray look to it.
And we've used this ball mount several times now here at etrailer and it's held up very well. So compared to other ball mounts where they usually have that shiny silver out of it, and then when that scrapes off, it tends to look rusty, what we have instead here is a matte covering with a silver interior. Now, you have the option of using this in either the two-inch ball or the 2 and 5/16 ball. So with a two-inch ball, you have 7,500 pound capacity, and that's going to be your wing capacity. And with the 2 and 5/16, you have a 10,000-pound capacity.
This is how you can adjust the height that you use this ball with. In its maximum height, you get a six-inch rise. (metal rattling) And in its maximum drop, you also get a six-inch drop. If you needed to put it into the drop position, well, it's simply a matter of removing the ball mount from the hitch receiver and then just putting it back in, but this time in the drop position. Now, something worth thinking about is the height of your trailer because that's how you will determine how much height you will need.
To do that, go ahead, get your trailer, level that out as much as possible, and then measure from the coupler. And then go to your vehicle, and then you can measure from the ball mount to the ground. And if those numbers match up, then you're going to have a good end-level towing experience. Now, if you are towing a trailer with your Hyundai IONIQ 5, I highly recommend doing light trailers only. You wanna be very mindful of your actual towing capacity. And also consider getting your custom wiring as you get your custom hitch receiver. That way, with four-pole wiring, you can make sure that your trailer lights turn on, that as you make left turns or right turns with your IONIQ, the trailer lights turn on as well. If your trailer has brakes, you are going to need seven-way wiring, and you're also going to need a brake controller. Now, with those heavier trailers, they may be a little bit beyond the towing capacity of your vehicle. So that's why even with our etrailer adjustable ball mount here, which has up to 10,000 pounds towing capacity, you need to be very conscious about the towing capacity of your car first. If there's ever a number that's going to be lower, always follow the lower number when it comes to capacity. A lot of people get this hitch receiver here on their Hyundai to carry around bike racks or cargo carriers. But if you we inchesre to carry around a little trailer, I definitely recommend going with the etrailer adjustable ball mount because of its versatility, because it looks really good.
