Hello neighbor, this is Curt with etrailer, and today we're going to take a look at this custom bed mat from Westin, and we're going to see how it fits in our 2026 Chevy Silverado 1500. Now the 1500 that we have here today has a five and 3/4-foot bed. We also have this mat available for the six and 1/2-foot bed right here at etrailer. So as far as construction, this mat is made of a recycled rubber. It's going to be very, very durable, and it's 3/8 of an inch thick, making it a little bit on the heavy side too. It's got a great non-slip surface to it, not only on the top but on the bottom as well.
It's really difficult to shift or move, or anything. And the custom fit of the mat helps with that not sliding around as well. Now, out of the box, these come rolled up. So there is going to be some training to do with it once you get it. So for instance, right now it's curled up a little bit at the end here, not quite reaching the bulkhead.
Let's do a little bit of the same thing back here at the tailgate and along the sides here. What you want to do to remedy that is just get some weight down on those areas, leave it out in the heat for a day or two. That is going to help mold it down in order to be perfect. But while we're taking a look at it, even with the slight curling up, you can see the edges are contoured really well to fit around every little nook and granny back here, all the way up to the front. It's even got a thin piece here to cover this area in front of the wheel well.
It's thick, so it's going to keep, you know, that, you know, keep it safe from impact. But it's thin enough that it's not going to interfere with your tie-downs at all either. Now when it comes to installation, this is really just a drop-in. There's no attachments, drilling, hook and loop, none of that. It just goes right in into place wherever you need it.
And if anything, I think that this is an excellent mat if you're working in your bed a lot, you know, a lot of the liners out there, they're not too easy on the knees. This one, because it covers the grooves in the truck, gives you a nice thick padded surface. The one takeaway that I've got though that I'm not as big of a fan of, and you don't see it a lot in truck mats, but sometimes you do, is having some sidewall protection. You know, just, you know, three, four, five inches of sidewall protection for the wheel wells and things like that in particular. I'd be worried about those getting dinged up from cargo. But all in all, if you're just looking to protect, for something to protect the floor of your truck bed, I think this is an excellent option. If you we inchesre looking for something that's maybe a little bit thinner with some sidewall protection, I'd recommend the WeatherTech impact liner. It's available here at etrailer, and it's got a really good fit in this bed as well. But if after watching this video, you've still got some questions about this Westin bed mat, or if you've used it before and you've got an experience to share, please share that with us. We'd love to hear your questions and we'd love to hear your stories. Once again, this is Curt with etrailer. Thanks for stopping by.
