Hi everyone. I'm Evangeline right here at etrailer. And today we're taking a look at our RV Designer dual outlets. Now these are available in different colors and they install right into your RV. They're going to be a dual outlet of 120 volts AC, and then going to be a great way to add some extra plugins to your camper or your RV. I already have one installed and if you're curious about that process, stick around till the end of this video.
So that's what it looks like on the outside. Very sleek, very helpful. And on the inside, it's going to look like this. So you're going to have your three different spots for your 120 volt wiring. You're going to have these little toggles to help keep the outlet in place.
Now, why would you use an RV Designer outlet compared to your own regular home outlet And the main reason for that is because with this system, you can make it where everything is one enclosed unit. These outlets take a lot more effort compared to a regular household receptacle, but you can see here that with that back closed over everything, there's going to be zero way for any of the wires inside to ever make contact outside of the outlet. And for an RV where sometimes it's going to be an open area that your outlet is stored in, there might be other wires and other things stored inside here. Or you also need to make sure that you can have something that handles the extra vibration of a trailer. Your house is not going down 60 miles an hour down a road while your RV will be.
So all those things work together to make for a self-contained system that is safer for your trailer. So if you have a damaged outlet and you need to replace it, or maybe you are upgrading or adding a new outlet to areas that don't have it, this is going to be a great option for you. Now we're going to be focusing in on using this outlet and wiring to it. We're not going to be talking about the wiring process itself. If that's something you're also looking into and might be a little bit overwhelming, you can also check out any of our local installers to you.
We have this whole installer network that can help you out with RV focused installations. Now, if you're ready to take a look at how this is installed, start off by making sure your trailer is off. Unplugging shore power, turning off your inverter, turning off your breaker. Let's get to it. To start installing or replacing your new outlet, if you have an old outlet, you're first going to have to remove it. That process will be different for different people. What this outlet here needed was I needed a flathead screwdriver. I just popped off that plate and that actually removes from the outlet. And then from there, I was able to loosen the top corner bolts. And then that has a toggle in the back and I was able to remove it. Now here, taking a look at this old outlet, the older toggle is actually off and I already took off the back plate. We can see our wires over here and something a lot of people like to do is also just double check and verify the orientation of the plate so that if they replace it, it's the same as before. I personally am a ground hole facing up person, but if you want to match the old socket, this is a way to make sure you do. Now here, I'm just going to lift the wires away. They are pretty jammed in there. So I am going to just grab a screwdriver just to help pry them up and out. See how that's working well Again, this is only possible because all the power is off. Now we have our new outlet. So double checking the orientation of everything to make sure it lines up. We're also going to refer on the things printed on the outlet back. So here in the back it says wire con side, and then we have our white, green, and black. So that does line up with our wires here. What I do is that I just push them into place here in the center just to make sure th
