The Enchanted Valley Chalet hike follows the East Fork of the Quinault River 13.5 miles into Olympic National Park, gaining elevation gradually through old-growth rainforest and over high bridges. The full out-and-back is 27 miles. You need a wilderness permit, which are competitive in summer. Most people backpack it over two or three days, though strong hikers can day-hike it if they start early. The trail is well-maintained but remote. Expect creek crossings, possible bear encounters, and weather shifts. The chalet itself sits in a massive glacial valley below Anderson Glacier. Plan ahead for permits and be ready for solitude once you leave the trailhead.
