I've been getting a lot of requests for a Lindsey Stirling song, so I tried to play "Electric Daisy Violin." I hope it turned out okay - I tried to make it a little different by turning it into a duet and adding more acoustic-like instruments to the backing track. ^_^

I primarily make violin folk music videos on this channel, and only occasionally make cover videos. To me, Electric Daisy Violin reminds me of Celtic music, which is why I picked this particular song. It's a really fun song to play! There are two arpeggio runs that make it kind of difficult to play, but the rest of the song is pretty straightforward, which is nice. ^_^ However, I cannot believe that she can dance around and play this song at the same time - that's amazing! : o

Here is a link to the original song:

If you would like the sheet music, you can purchase it from Lindsey's website:

I first learned the song by ear and then bought the sheet music to make sure I was playing it right. Either my ear is off (which happens a lot...lol!), or I found a few mistakes in the sheet music...In this video, I play the version I learned by ear, so there are a few slightly different notes (mostly C vs. B differences) than what is written in the sheet music.

I've learned so much from making this video! I found out a ton about different rhythms and instrument combinations by listening to the background instruments of Lindsey''s song. I've also FINALLY (!!!!) figured out what was making my violin recordings sound so bad after I exported them. All I had to do was uncheck "Normalize" in the GargeBand preferences. All of a sudden my violin tracks sounded normal, and no longer had exaggerated loudness that created piercing high notes! I'm so happy that I've figured that out!!! I record the violin separately and have to export the tracks individually before I can add them to the rest of the mix. When I would export the song, GarageBand thought there was a ton of "extra room" in the file, and would "normalize" the file and make the violin track really loud and distorted. Live and learn, I guess...I'm sure regular music producers would giggle at that... Noobie mistake! haha! xD

I filmed this way back in September, and I tried to ask for permission to upload it. I got a positive yet "very legal" response back saying that they are happy with YouTube covers but still hold all rights to everything. That sounds okay to me, but I hope they still approve of the video! ^^;;; I've taken their email as a go-ahead to post, and I guess we'll find out if it's okay. I heavily used the sheet music she has available to help make the backing track, but I also added some of my own ideas to the track.

I hope you like the music and video!

Thank you for watching! =)
