Here is my arrangement of "Fanny Power" -- an Irish air written by Turlough O'Carolan. I wrote it as a trio, but it can also be played as a duet. =) The sheet music for this arrangement can be found in my "15 Irish Fiddle Airs - Duets and Trios" book.

Fanny Power is a pretty simple song that is great for beginner to intermediate fiddle players. Carolan's songs are also a nice bridge between "classical" violin and Irish fiddle music genres because they have a baroque spirit to them. They are a good introduction to Irish music with the concept of adding your own ornaments and personal touches, but still quite structured like most classical violin music. They also have a slower speed to them, and most are considered to be "airs" instead of reels or fast jigs. The arrangements I've written are for string trios, but can also be played as duets repeating the song using the different harmonies.
One of the things that I love about Colorado are the gigantic fields of sunflowers that pop up in the summer. I haven't been to many places around the USA, but I don't think fields of sunflowers are that common in other places. They are super pretty and neat to look at, but definitely hit me with the allergies lol!
