Here is a fun Irish fiddle tune called "Julia Delaney!" I tried to come up with a cello part to go with it, which ended up being really difficult to do. Hopefully it turned out okay -- I'm still a bit on the fence as to whether it sounds "too busy" or not. It was a lot of fun to play, and it was a fun challenge to try to play on the cello.
I guess this is kind of a cello-learning update! :D I've been playing the cello for awhile now (I started lessons last May). I still have a lot of bad "violin-y" habits that I need to fix, but I think I've come a long way from when I first started. Weekly lessons have really helped. I didn't make much progress until I started taking lessons, and I've noticed that I need a lesson every week to force myself to keep up with practicing difficult material. If I slip into lessons every 2 to 3 weeks, I end up goofing off with stuff like this instead of practicing scales and technique things lol. (Hopefully my teacher never reads this... =S ) It makes me want to start taking violin lessons again, too! Taking cello lessons has made me feel like I'm really rusty and kind of sloppy on the violin... I'm not sure if it's because I'm not used to bass notes or if it's been having lessons, but I think I prefer how I sound on the cello than the violin in this video. That's kind of weird...
Julia Delaney is another one of my favorite tunes (I have a lot of favorites...lol). I love to play it directly after Tam Lin (played in A minor). The two tunes go together so well! The "B Part" of Tam Lin leads into this tune well. ^_^ I didn't stick them together in this particular video, but I think I'll put these two tunes together eventually. I'm hoping to come up with some sort of CD someday, and maybe I'll combine them for that. =)
Also, I really want to post more often!! I apologize for the long gaps between posting new videos. I've been really swamped with things to do lately, and it's been difficult to keep up with making videos. I hope viewers can understand... I have a full-time job (non-music related), and the YouTube/music stuff is just a hobby that I work on during the weekends. I produce these backing tracks and videos by myself. Even though they look pretty simple, the whole process takes a lot of effort.
