I played at a few "Thursday Markets" in Colorado Springs a while back. Some followers asked if I could vlog one of the days, so I did! I hope you find this kind of content interesting -- I'm a really introverted and private person (which might sound a bit odd since I post stuff online...), so vlogging probably isn't one of my strengths...

I found it especially helpful to run through all my music in more of a performance setting. I'll often practice a song over and over and over again trying to perfect a specific part, but I never really practice playing all of my songs straight through -- one after the other -- without stopping or repeating anything. It's hard to minimize mistakes the first time you play something "cold," but I think I've gotten a little better at it this summer. It really helps that most of my music is fairly straight forward to play. I think running through entire sets is really something that needs to be practiced as much as the individual songs, especially if you are a soloist...

Also, volume levels of both the violin and backing track have proven to be difficult to deal with when you are by yourself. I don't have a sound engineer to help me adjust the levels as I play, so I bought a foot pedal to turn down the volume of the backing track if a song starts off sounding too loud (the pedal cannot raise the volume, though...). It's hard to adjust the volume once you start playing because there isn't a free hand available, or a break in the music, to discreetly change anything! :o

I made a little journal with different volume levels for each song, but it only works if I have the volume of the violin set to the same loudness level for every gig setup, lol. I have yet to master balancing everything by myself, but I think I'm getting better! Someday I hope I'll be able to hire help with this kind of stuff. Until then, I'll continue to attempt flying solo! =)

Thank you for watching, and I hope you have a good weekend! =)
