Let’s spotlight another delicious, classic rum that you don’t have to travel the ends of the world or the internet to find:
El Dorado 15 year from Demerara Distillers in Guyana.
It’s made on the banks of the Demerara river in Guyana at the Diamond Distillery which is owned by Demerara Distiller’s Limited.
So, what’s in this? Well its a blend of a number of different base rums or marks from a combination of various pot and columns stills. This includes rums distilled on the Enmore Wooden Coffey column still, which produces fruity medium bodied rums, and also both the Port Mourant and Versailles Wooden Vat stills, which produce heavy body rums that are very aromatic and sweet and savory notes.
Each of these base rums are aged in well charred ex-bourbon barrels to a minimum of 15 years and then they are artfully blended by Master Blender Sharon Sue-Hang.
