I love doing this and it's something the family and friends will eat in no time. It's simple and a lot less expensive and better tasting than buying it in a store.
I've made this for years and it's something you'll want to make over again.
Original recipe was inspired by Troy Cooks.
The recipe is below, adjust as you want.
2 lbs of thin sliced top round, about 1/4"
3 T seasoned salt
2 T seasoned pepper
3 sliced jalapenos
1 T crushed red pepper or to taste
1 T liquid smoke
1/2 C soy sauce
1/2 Worcestershire sauce
2 T honey
12 oz of soda - I've used Dr Pepper, sub at will
Cut the extra fat off the beef.
Mix everything together with the beef and let marinate for at least 4 hours, overnight is fine too.
Pull out the beef and put on oven racks at 170 for 3-4 hours. I like putting the jalapenos on top and it depends on how tender you want it.
It'll refrigerate for a couple of weeks if it lasts that long.
