Irelandscapes | Dundrum - Autumn Beach Walk, Seals (N Irish Coastal Scenery on Film) @Irelandscapes | Uploaded November 2021 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
This bay at the village of Dundrum on the coast of S County Down is full of surprises. With a 14C Norman castle built by soldier adventurer John De Courcy towering above the bay, one would expect dramatic traditional scenery, and yes, it delivers. It's quite easy to imagine a fleet of longboats arriving here with the Welsh stonemasons who set about building this impregnable fortress with strategic views across land and sea. The local village is friendly and accessible and there are a number of excellent coastal and forest walks nearby. Of course, the seals so well represented in this film, are a surprise attraction - the beaches on this stretch of coastline being so vast that it is easy for them to find secluded spots to rest in groups. There are scenes here worthy of epic verse and imagery, a real gem.
