On 24 January 1965, ITN's Andrew Gardner presented a special bulletin announcing the death of Sir Winston Churchill. During the programme, Group Captain Sir Douglas Bader, the Second World War RAF Flying Ace, spoke with high regard about the wartime leader.

This clip is an excerpt of a 30-minute special news broadcast, aired at 2.20pm on the day of Churchill's death. In an era when TV bulletins were typically much shorter, the extended length highlights the significance of the moment. Given the technological challenges of the time, recordings of live television from the 1960s are rare, making this discovery particularly valuable.
