No Strings (I'm Fance Free)
Words and music by Irving Berlin
Dorsey Brothers' Orchestra
Vocal Chorus by Don Matteson, Skeets Hurfurt and Roc Hillman
Recorded August 1, 1935
Decca 516

Words and music by Irving Berlin. Introduced by Fred Astaire in the R.K.O. motion picture "Top Hat."

Trombonist, Don Matteson is the vocal soloist and has a voice that sounds much like Astaire. The remainder of the vocal trio consisted of saxophonist, Skeets Herfurt and guitarist, Roc Hillman.

This was recorded shortly after the breakup of Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey. After Tommy left the band, Jimmy became director and continued to use the name Dorsey Brothers. According to Brian Rust, Tommy Dorsey was not present at this recording session.
