"Ford Britten" was a pseudonym used by a number of different bands on the Clarion budget label, including the California Ramblers, Lou Gold and Jack Albin. For this recording it is clearly Arthur Fields singing the vocal and very likely the recording session was directed by his partner Fred Hall. Furthermore, the composer Bert Van Cleve collaborated on many song with Fields and Hall during the 1930s.
Fred Hall and Arthur Fields were partners as composers and musicians between 1926 and 1942, and performed on records, radio and film. In the 1930s they founded Piedmont Music Company specializing in the genre of country and hillbilly music. Together they wrote over 250 original compositions and arrangements. Fred Hall would often direct recording sessions, sometimes playing piano and with Arthur Fields as vocalist.
Songwriter Bert Van Cleve performed on the radio as a vocalist and uke player for WKEN and WABC as early as 1928. Van Cleve collaborated with Fields and Hall on many compositions through the 1930s.
