Revelations | Part 2: Purgatory & Hell's Core
So what has happened. Well, we got whooped and the Slayer was sent to Purgatory to suffer eternal torment. But the thing is, the Slayer can't really die.
What is a Slayer to do? Simple. We're going to fight our way out. But our armor and shield saw are destroyed. Without our armor, our maximum health, armor and ammo have been reduced. We still have all our weapons but we need something new to get by. Our BFC has gone missing. Revelations introduces us to the Chain Spear. The Chain Spear is an item you will need to rely on a lot. Not only for exploration but also combat as it can be used to avoid attacks.
As for where we are, we're in Purgatory. This is essentially a big hub world where you will head to four different areas. First is Hell's Core. So you're asking yourself. How can we be able to raise up our health, armor and ammo? Simple. We need to seek out Leader Essences. We get those by tackling leader-type enemies. In addition, there's a new currency: Platinum. You need Platinum in order to upgrade your Chain Spear and unlock new abilities.
You're also wondering about our objective right? Seek out the three Ascension Stones. The first one is found in Hell's Core and we'll need to go through the level. Don't worry. We'll return back to the place later. There's a reason for it. All of this is diving deep into the Slayer's backstory. Once you see it, you'll understand what happened to him and why he's like this.
With the first Ascension Stone claimed, only two remain. We return it back to the Oracle. One last thing. Completing it nets us the first piece for the Master Key. That's needed in order to do the Endgame Content. Not only that but in a vision, we see King Novik and the Sentinels trying to find the Slayer... but to no avail. After returning the stone to the Oracle, we head to the Workshop again. We decide to get our Sheild Saw back. Yeah. The Shield Saw is still useful but it's severely nerfed, for the time being. It's here you can decide to use either the Chain Spear or Shield Saw.
See you in Part 3 for we head to the Chasm of Xal'Goroth.
