DMZ Reset Update + NEW Weapon Case Rewards for Season 2 DMZ / Warzone 2!
This morning a bunch of new information has come out for Season 2 of DMZ which has given us not only a look at some of the new additions coming to the game but also a bit more clarity of the Reset that’s happening at the start of the new season
So we got told not to long ago about a reset happening in DMZ with Season 2 but they weren’t very clear about a few things and it caused a lot of confusion. Thankfully with this morning's blog post we’ve now a better idea now of what will be reset and what will be rfreshed moving forward.
So as it stands right now if you progress through the faction missions and unlock any extra insured slots for DMZ then these will be permanently unlocked for you but once season 2 starts ONLY the faction missions themselves will be refreshed with new challenges and everyone will begin again at tier one.
The reason for this, that was mentioned in the blog post was that they’ve noticed the difficulty of the challenges was getting to hard to fast and people were struggling to get those second and third insured slots unlocked.
So the new challenges are going to be a bit easier to make those insured weapons slots more obtainable and also with the addition of Building 21 and soon to be Ashika Island it allows them to add challenges that can or need to be completed across all of the DMZ locations
With this mission refresh is going to bring the addition of a completely new faction called Crown. I think it’s safe to assume that this faction just like the others is going to have another full 5 tiers of challenges and rewards to complete and unlock.
The only kicker when it comes to this new faction is that the only way to get access to these missions is if you own a copy of Modern Warfare 2 which means now that by owning MW2 you not only get an extra 10 contraband slots but also these Crown faction missions.
Speaking of the contraband slots, These ARE getting fully reset along side your key stash so there will be no way to get any of your items back once the new season starts.
The reason they mentioned in the blog for doing this is that from season 2 onwards the key stash will be able to hold specific mission items that you must find in one DMZ location and then be able to bring it to another, So i guess them making that change requires a reset of our inventory for both the key stash and contraband weapons.
Thankfully tho they did also mention that this reset is not something they intend to do every season so this could just be a once of thing to make the changes they’ve listed in the blog.
Although for us it does suck but DMZ is in beta after all so getting some changes like this isn’t really that unusual.
Finally on the topic of the reset they did mention that to complete everything involved with it they may need to take DMZ offline for a few hours closer to season 2 but at this stage an official time for this hasn’t been announced.
Now also in this morning's blog we also got a tease of some of what we’re going to be able to discover on Ashika Island.
This includes new denied areas to be accessed with keys for top tier loot, A new free roaming boss called the Bombmaker as well as a new weapon case that can be found and extracted for new rewards.
I’m really interested to find out just how to locate this new weapon case, Whether it will just be something that this new bombmaker boss will drop upon death or whether there will be an easter egg of sorts to locate it similar to how it works in Building 21.
Either way i really hope that the rewards from it are much better than what we got from building 21 because things like stickers, emblems and calling cards are kind of lame in my opinion. Personally one item i would love to see included in the mix is the Hazardous Blueprint from the chemist cause as it stands at the moment we can only get this as a contraband weapon not a perm unlock.
Finally in this mornings blog they’ve teased that an aero plane has crashed around the cave complex in Al Mazarah which basically means in that area of the caves that’s layed out like the OG MW2 map aghan they’ll be adding in the main plane that sits in middle of the map.
