Dexter and the subtlety of human emotions
The finale of Dexter Resurrection aired not long ago and many of us would gladly claim that Dexter is back in form. After a series of rather unsuccesful Dexter seasons and the awful Dexter New Blood, both Dexter Original Sin and Dexter Resurrection have made Dexter relevant again. I myself am super happy that Dexter is back and enjoyed Dexter Resurrection quite a lot.
That being said, I have noticed certain inconsistencies regarding the character of Dexter Morgan and how he's being handled in Dexter Resurrection, specifically when the show is acting like Dexter is discovering his humanity for the first time in his relationship with his son, Harrison Morgan, as if it's not the major character development we have already been through.
In this video I offer my character analysis of Dexter's character development and his ability to experience various feelings and emotions and to what degree he's capable of empathy to offer a picture of the character arc Dexter went through and wether the current direction of the Dexter show makes sense when we take all that into consideration.
