Here’s a free porch pick up in our neighborhood from a couple years ago. I’ll never pass up an opportunity for free audio equipment, even if it’s newer!
So this is 22 years old, non-HDMI, but digital surround AV. Not very appropriate to be considered vintage but it’s the newest of my oldest receiver in my collection if that makes sense.
I decided to open it up and clean the display out since it was a little foggy and dusty. Performs pretty well and I have it in straight to channel mode, it’s 100 watts per channel.
Very little could be replaced, if there were a problem. Tons of custom, integrated circuits and parts. And thin circuit boards, which are much more difficult to work with when compared to stuff pre-1990.
This sounds pretty good, but it is not as exciting as something older.
