Ace of 9‘s is a ,,stress-DoT“ team, here are roles of characters:
1st: Grave robber (dodge trinket + stress trinket) - stress dealer
2nd: Flagellant (Gauntlet of Absolution + damage trinket) - DoT dealer
3rd: Jester (damage trinket + dodge trinket) - deathblow dealer
4th: Antiquarian (Tears of the Lost + dodge trinket) - stress dealer
PROS:
1) Great damage output
2) Great stress output
3) Great DoT output
4) Great healing potential
5) 2 deathblowers
6) Disruption isn’t a menace
CONS:
1) Marks are a menace
2) Stuns are a menace
3) Stress is a menace
Ace of 9’s is a weird stress team with great strength of DoT and pure damage. All characters can make AoE damage, next you have 2 healers and 2 deathblowers. This team is vulnerable against every possible team, no matter on player’s rank.
I tried to play a few strategies, like „bard Jester“, „full DoT“, „the finishers“ and „mix damage + DoT“. I tried both variantions of Grave robber (pure damage / DoT stresser), both variantions are good.
My advice: Try a different team instead.
Long time ago I watched Diogee’s videos about his „Butcher’s circus crusade“, when he showcased this team. Before I made notes about the setup, he simply disappeared from the scene and all videos were deleted. I tried to contact him via Youtube, Steam or Discord, but no response. So, I had to improvise. And… boi, oh, boy… this was harsh.
Badly positioned Grave robber and so many choices for starting the 1st turn. Probably the best choice for playing was „full DoT“ strategy - starting with Jester, next to Flagellant, then Grave robber and lastly Antiquarian, but sometimes you cannot use that because of opponent (if you will face f.e. mark team, you need start differently). What’s worse… After 1st used strategy I really tried to play „full stress“. IT’S NOT POSSIBLE. At least for me. Why? Darkest players. I played a „full stress“ strategy only against darkest players with stress or DoT teams. Not a single chance to win the match.
After losing my mind and thinking about another strategy, I found on Youtube another video called „Ace of 9’s“, this time by player „Trubbs“ and I like that setup and strategy. But I found something disturbing in that video. His showcased team wasn’t „Ace of 9’s“, but similiar team by Wynterbliss [Gwave Wobber]. Even thou I tried that setup, but I got no chance for victory.
I lost many matches, as I wrote before - against veteran player with mark team, against champion player with DoT team and 3x darkest players with DoT or stress team. Sure, I got only these players, but what’s more funny about this, I really want to play against novices, but when I got them, they just surrendered in 1st turn. So… no victories (probably 6x). Despair was my name in that moment. After that I just stop playing the team and try it next day = 2 victories, 0 defeats.
This team is so bad, that I cannot believe and understand, how the owner could won some matches against darkest players. It’s mystery for me. You can play only “full” or “mix damage + DoT”, other strategies are worthless. No different approaches, no synergies, no original setup and badly positioned Grave robber. And no one will convince me otherwise.
Playing this was like playing poker, but all your cards are on table and everyone can see, what you got.
