Mayo Indians from the village of Capomo, near the town of El Fuerte in Mexico, said to have the most pure indigenous blood in all of Mexico, perform sacred dances hundreds, if not thousands of years old. Dances such as Danza del Venado (Deer Dance) and are performed during Semana Santa (Passover and Easter) and during other important religious and traditional festivals. The dancer featured in the video is 70 year old Jose Luis, who is currently being featured in a commercial from the Mexican Tourism Bureau that promotes the State of Sinaloa as a tourist destination.
