Grassdigger | Crushing a Paper Bag Crashes Pikmin 2 @grassdigger8695 | Uploaded March 2017 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
Day 1 Extinction is required for this: youtube.com/watch?v=IieBje4CqMo&t
I use Cutscene Timer Storage to make this possible. Here's its original discovery: youtube.com/watch?v=W9l36dppK_Q&t
and my documentation/experimentation: youtube.com/watch?v=a5v7SPgP5B8
First, I activate a cutscene timer by having a red and a purple Pikmin in my command. This gives me about 12 seconds upon landing in Valley of Repose to get 15 Pikmin to the paper bag, throw them on it, and wait for it to get crushed, which was barely enough time. Then, the game ques the cutscene of Olimar and Louie reuniting.
Now normally, this cutscene has a purpose. There is another cutscene in the game, namely the "You appear lost" cutscene, that activates on a timer. The "Reunion" cutscene resets this timer, however, only 1 timer is used for cutscene timers (the proof is that activating a timer while another timer is in effect does nothing). So part of the game wants to quit the timer because of the "Reunion" cutscene, but it also doesn't have to because this cutscene does not match with the current timer. A crash results.
I plan on doing a thorough video explaining Cutscene Timer Storage and all its effects soon. I may have to do more testing before this though, I have strong evidence to indicate a 5th cutscene activates on a 2-ish second timer, namely, the cutscene of the Pikmin being called to Olimar at the start of the game.
The title is a ripoff of Stryder7x's videos, go check him out! He does neat stuff with Paper Mario 64.
