Grassdigger | Pikmin 2 Wii: Blue Onion in 31:39 (WR for Wii) @grassdigger8695 | Uploaded December 2016 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
I saved over a minute from being much less sloppy, a better route for nectar in Awakening Wood, and a quicker OoB at the end. I lost a little time in Perplexing Pool and while building the bridge, but overall, I'm quite satisfied with this run. I also tried making 7 purples instead of 8, but I'm not sure if that's faster.
Credit to ShadowLugia for discovering the Out of Bounds trick with the Chrysanthemum that I utilized twice. This also allowed me to show off my own trick for accessing the Geographic Projection early.
Some notes: Although you can get a Pikmin extinction on day 1 in the Gamecube version, throwing mechanics were changed on Wii, making Pikmin 2 Wii the only Pikmin game that cannot get an extinction on day 1. I didn't use the geyser in Emergence Cave so that I could skip watching the cutscene when you encounter a geyser. If you didn't notice, cutscenes are the bane of Pikmin 2 Wii's existence. For some reason, they made it so that a lot of cutscenes are unskippable. One more thing, I ended the day immediately when landing in Awakening Wood so that the bridge would quickly unfoil once the first little section was built.
