In my crochet tutorial today I’ll be showing you how to make this crochet cricket pitch applique.

If you would like to view the crochet pattern for free, it’s on my website at kerriscrochet.com/crochet-cricket-pitch-pattern or you can download it from Ravelry at ravelry.com/patterns/library/cricket-pitch for $1 at and LoveCrafts at lovecrafts.com/en-gb/p/cricket-pitch-crochet-pattern-by-kerris-crochet

You can also subscribe to Kerri’s Crochet Newsletter and get a free copy of the Crochet Cat Towel eBook at kerriscrochet.com/crochet-pattern-ebook-and-newsletter

For this pattern you will need any thickness crochet cotton or yarn, I used Scheepjes Catona cotton colours (404) English Tea, (106) Snow White, (179) Topaz, (115) Hot Red and (110) Black. A crochet hook, I used a 2.5mm hook. A darning needle to weave in ends and a pair of scissors. Cream thread and a needle to embroider markings on the ball. A small amount of stuffing to stuff the ball if desired.

The finished size will be 16cm wide x 24cm high (6” wide x 9.5” high) for the larger cricket pitch, using 8 ply crochet cotton. The size of the cricket pitch in Catona will be 12cm wide x 22cm high (4.5” wide x 8.5” high). The medium cricket pitch will be 11cm wide x 16cm high (4.5” wide x 6.5” high) when using 4 ply crochet cotton. The small cricket pitch will be 6cm wide x 13cm high (2.5” wide x 5” high) when using 2 ply crochet cotton.
