We're under a freeze warning all the way down here in central Florida, and the rest of the country is close to frozen solid! Seems to me like we're *all* in need of some cold weather comfort. A good batch of Crowder Peas with cornbread might do the trick.
Crowders are botanically similar to Blackeye Peas, yet altogether different, and better. They have a much creamier texture, and a heartier, almost 'meaty" taste. They may be hard to find up north, but Camellia Brand, camelliabrand.com , which has become my source for *all* varieties of beans, mail orders them and ships all over the U.S. Try them, and you'll never go back to store-bought. (Unless you're in Cajun country where store-bought *includes* Camellia.)
I served them up with cornbread, and they really hit the spot, and warned it beautifully!
