Please watch in HD!
I had an idea for an edit with this song a while back, but that idea involved FFXV. At the time, I was very unconfident about this idea bc I wasn't sure how to make it special or anything different from whatever else I've done.
Yesterday I finally got around to watching Advent Children, and I really liked the movie! It made me feel a wide range of emotions and it was worth the watch ^^
Anyways, yesterday basically consisted of me watching the movie and then quickly getting to editing this once I finally found the song I wanna edit this movie with.
I instantly had a little vision of what I wanted the video to look like. And this time, I actually knew how I could make this video different. I had a little transition idea in mind that I generally don't really use, which is the sliding transition ^^
I also quickly knew what kind of look I wanted the video to have, as well.
I wanted the coloring to be black and blue, for well, reasons that I guess are understandable ^^ And I also wanted everything to have a hazy look to it.
Setting the clips was easier than I thought it would be. My idea of the clip placement and selection was this: I was trying to make the clips fit the lyrics, so the beginning would start off with Cloud essentially fighting his demons (''I'm facing the demons I created, with every last part of me''). The ''every last part of me'' part shows him basically on his last legs but still willing to stand up and fight. For the ending lyrics ''the pain will fade and I'll go on'' I used clips of him bleeding, and then eventually all of this pain ending and everything slowly becoming calm again. So that symbolizes the pain finally going away. But then, just before the loop, I used a clip of him getting shot in the back during this calm moment, and since the chorus repeats at that point, that could symbolize the pain restarting and the inner and physical fight beginning all over again.
When I finished setting these clips and got to editing the middle of the edit, I slowly realized that I'm editing this as a method of coping with anxiety. Towards the evening yesterday, I got extremely axious about school starting again, and I began to feel like so much was being crammed onto me and it was hard for me to emotionally handle, so I began procrastinating absolutely everything by editing. What fueled my editing process of this at the start was pure anxiety.
However, I pulled myself away from editing. At points forcefully. But then my best friend asked if I'd like to talk on skype, which I agreed to, bc I thought that I could really use some emotional support. I was beginning to feel physically unwell from stress.
After a while, I was talking to her as well as editing and doing my homework. It really helped me to talk to her, and it calmed me down, especially after I had a good cry and got some advice and support from her.
The editing process of this video was rather disturbed after that, and I can't quite say when I did edit this more and when I didn't.
However, before we began talking, I had edited for around 2 hours and some minutes, and finished setting the clips, coloring, and a good portion of the effects at the middle and the end.
After we ended our talk at around 1 AM, I was only left with adding some more overlays, double checking stuff, and that was it.
I'm really, really happy with the result of this video. Given how I was feeling while making it.
It was fun to do some little things that I don't exactly traditionally do in my videos.
There isn't anything I'm really unhappy with here. I could only say that I don't exactly like how the clip slides back in at the loop. I should have added pan/crop in a different order, but alright. Also the quality of the movie could have been better, but this was all I could download for the time being.
Regarding the coloring - I made only the cyans and the blues visible, but for some reason they appear as green on some clips. Oh well.
This was also my first time (in quite while) editing with RSMB _while_ making the video, instead of adding it at the very end, bc I knew I wanted to work with heavy motion blur right from the start. And I'm very happy with the look of this motion blur. Perhaps I should've made this video 60 fps if I intended on doing so, but when I realized this, I had already added some effects and I wasn't willing to place the keyframes all over again, so I stuck with 30 fps.
Seeing as I added RSMB, that shot up the render time to 23 minutes and 41 seconds, which isn't bad at all, still.
Hm. And I guess that's all I have to say about the video.
I really, really hope that y'all will enjoy it!
There's something else I want to mention about this video but I'll do so in the comments, as YT's description character limit wouldn't allow me to add it here.
I hope you all have a good day/night!~

![Sonic the Hedgehog : Gonna be Alright ; OK [ Gift ]
Welp, this is probably the fastest that ive even edited recently, plus, its a Sonic project! So i personally find it even more surprising that i got it done so quickly.
But but! theres a reason for this x3 I made this as a gift for my girlfriend, @EnchantedNebula , because she hadnt been doing well recently.
Katie, id like to once again mention that im always here for you and here to support you c: I believe in you, and that its gonna be okay in some way or another! I hope you enjoy this little gift! ^^
I somehow went with instinct when making this (especially when setting the clips), so i feel like that is what drove me to finish this quickly, without thinking much. Its something between effort and low-effort for me. Moderate-ish/a fair amount of effort, to a point ^^
I wanted to combine these two songs, because a couple months back Katie showed me Alright, and i knew that she likes this song, and i felt like it could be an alright (ksadhasdjk) semi-positive song, but this song also made me think of another one i know by HU, which is Gonna be OK. Thus, i decided to combine the two, so i suppose its songs that we both like owo
It was a bit hectic to make this tho bc i had to be out today, plus i still need to revise for an exam. But im sure that... itll all be okay in the end ^^ And im happy that i was able to finish this, in the end :3
I hope yall enjoy watching this, too! Im very sad that i havent been able to edit all that much recently, but i really do hope that ill be able to finish some stuff up soon. I definitely feel like ill be able to post a certain MEP part soon ^^
Thank you all very much for sticking around! c:
I wish you all a good and safe day/night! :3

![Mo Dao Zu Shi [ Wangxian ] || AGAIN
My, theres quite a lot to say about this one. Ill start from the beginning!
Firstly, i wanna say that this project is quite a special one to me, which will be explained why, a bit below.
Back in, i believe early October of last year, I had really gotten into listening to Flyleaf, so much so that they became one of my fave bands! This was one of the songs i came across from them that I really grew to like. I no longer remember how i found the song, but the next memory i have is that I could barely listen to the song Without realizing that this fits Wei and Lan so well, and getting extremely vivid visions of a Wangxian edit with this song. The inspiration was absolutely overwhelming, and this was happening during a time when i was still so nervous and unsure about my new year in uni, where i felt like I was losing my touch with creativity - something which is very important to me for self-expression.
The idea of the video goes as such: I envision this song as being Lan singing to Wei, and singing about him. Hes singing to him in his most vulnerable moment, when his vessel has become far too weak, and he finds himself reflecting on Weis past actions, and trying to find it in his heart to explain himself, and comfort Wei in this moment. He never hated him.
The black and white variations were supposed to represent different parts in time, based on their color scheme.
Full color: the past
Half-colored b&w: the present
Full b&w: the imaginary, hopeful and ideal visions
Although with time, during the editing process, this color symbolism faded a bit in favor of adding smooth color transitions and added intensity.
It didnt take long for me to slap down this song into Vegas and absolutely FILL the timeline with markers about my clip ideas - i knew exactly which scenes i wanted to use. Then, worry started to settle in. What if the clips dont look the way i hope? what if this is another project I will start and give up on?.
Nevertheless, i pushed forwards with this project when i had the time. Shuffling the project between two different computers, losing some of my files along the way.
I wanted the clips to match both the lyrics and my story. I believe the more I set clips, the more a very clear idea popped into my head - i wanted to work with voice overs and sound effects! But i didnt just wanna plop some down for the sake of it, i wanted to create an entire atmosphere in this video with the sound effects. I see some editors splendidly use sound effects in their videos and I really commend them for it! I wanted to go all-out with my work, as well. And so, i started looking up tutorials on how to work with sound design ^^ Important to note, however, is that most of the separate sfx arent mine, i tried to find copyright-free or general sound effects on YT. I did, however, make a couple wind howl sounds from white noise ^^
Adding the clips was a process of adding the scenes i already had in mind; some got swapped out. And for others I had to add something new or work on the clip flow.
To add to being ambitious, i tried to do more masks than usual, experiment with transitions. I wanted to build atmosphere with layering light rays to add an extra glow to water scenes for example, too.
I spent a lot of time trying to get the effects to be just perfect - exactly how i want them to be. Up until the final days that i worked on finishing this, that entire process got so tiring that i barely had the energy to work on this anymore. Detail can naturally come out as i get into the process, which it did. And i finished this out of spite last night at 4 AM, but left small fixes and rendering for today.
Ah yeah. And another aspect that made this video feel special to me is that for a couple months late last year, and early this year, I had felt like i relate to bits of this song, and In The Dark by Flyleaf in their own ways. Its like this encapsulates my mental state, my reoccurring hyperfixation on Wangxian, and my new creative attempts/mindset all in one video.
I dont mind if to someone else this may sound silly, but making this and finishing it meant a lot to me. While it took me 9 months to finish, in realtime those 9 months where long, excruciating months for me, with some days being so much harder than others. this video being here in the state that it is, is a reminder to myself about some things i found completely hard to believe during these long months: that i havent lost my creative spark, that i still know how to edit well, that i can finish ideas i start, and that im still capable of pursuing my passion - art, design, video editing. Thank you for reading ❤️And thank you all for your continuous support, it means so much to me!
Well then! I really do hope yall enjoy this one ^^
Stay safe and hydrated, and have a great day/night! ^^
