If a cutscene starts playing during a clockwork fadeout, the game will stay on the same map. Since the attempt to give control to a character on a different map fails, the camera just goes back to where the clockwork exploded and nothing happens. You can still pause the game, though. For some reason, this doesn't work with the Jinjo gate cutscene in Terrydactyland.
