Clinchfield Santa Train: The 80th Year 11-19-2022.
The weekend before Thanksgiving is always a special time for the (ex) Clinchfield Railroad (now) CSX Kingsport subdivision. Since 1942, the Clinchfield Railroad runs a Santa Claus special between Shelby Kentucky and Kingsport Tennessee. Since 1986, CSX has continued the annual tradition.
In 2022, after two-year hiatus due to worldwide circumstances, CSX announced they will run the Santa Train once again. Since then, CSX has repainted the usual consist of the Santa Train (the CSX executive train) into a Baltimore & Ohio inspired scheme (which in my opinion is absolutely beautiful).
Enjoy an 80-year-old tradition on the old Clinchfield!
