When Redd Foxx quit 'Sanford and Son' to host a variety show, and Demond Wilson made what NBC thought were unreasonable salary demands, the network gave up on the series...but hung on to the Sanford name. 'Sanford Arms' (1977) brought back the hotel Fred and Lamont had purchased and put Whitman Mayo in charge. Despite a few characters from the original series making appearances, 'Sanford Arms' quickly sunk to 100th place in the ratings. Eight episodes were produced, only four aired. The theme is by Henry Mancini, in his 'What's Happening!!' mode.
