If you're familiar with 'That's Hollywood!' (see our growing playlist), it was preceded by another series over a decade earlier. Airing on NBC in the 1963-64 season, 'Hollywood and the Stars' was a documentary about the movie business as well as a compilation of favorite Hollywood memories. It was produced by Jack Haley Jr who built a career around productions such as this. He would go on to produce 'That's Entertainment', 'That's Dancing' and many more...including a series that debuted in 1976: 'That's Hollywood!'. The theme music for 'Hollywood and the Stars' is by Elmer Bernstein, and it would come to be a staple in many of his concerts. Trivia: The show was a favorite of Martin Short, and when Short appeared on Letterman's show, this theme was his entrance music.
