Silver Lake is an iconic Los Angeles neighborhood - full of weird hippies, a cool cart variety, and the steepest streets in the city. The week after Christmas this past December I ventured over there to meet up with the familiar face you see in this video on his heavy Wednesday trash route. Likely one of the toughest areas to swamp for a rear loader in, this route consists of tight back downs, dead ends, as well as 2 of the top 10 steepest streets in the entire country - Fargo and Baxter Streets - each with a whopping 32% gradient (there are several others that would likely make it in the top 20 or 30). Then, take post Christmas trash plus a couple weeks worth of heavy rains and you got yourself easily one of the heaviest and most physically intensive routes in the region. So definitely props to the swamper for keeping up with such adverse conditions.
As you'll see in some of the shots, views from certain points throughout the route definitely made up for the double leg workout I got that morning.
