Mid State Solid Waste and Recycling is a small company up here just north of SLO that really hasn't gotten any attention over the years aside from Mike's video of some of their residential trucks nearly 5 years ago. Based in the town of Templeton, Mid-State services Templeton and other surrounding small towns and rural areas in the North County region. Their residential fleet hasn't changed much since Mike filmed them, although there is only one WhiteGMC Rapid Rail left as a spare for the Peterbilt split Rapid Rail which is sent to the rural routes. Their front loader fleet is even smaller, a 320 Amrep Elliptical, newer 520 McNeilus, older 320 Octo, and this Volvo WXLL CWS Square body.
I was a little shocked to say the least when I saw this thing be the first truck to turn on while I waited outside the yard one morning, and the luck only continued when he started the route just down the street from the yard, followed by relatively dense stops in downtown Templeton. Not an epic sounding truck by any means, but easily one of the last few diesel square body CWS still running! Huge thanks to the very friendly driver for letting me follow along and film!
