I'm very excited to share with you all a compilation of all the footage I got over the years of NASA's diesel front loaders! Pre Recycla, you could find these trucks and more like them running in just about any corner of the city of Los Angeles and beyond. However, "Hard to track down" would be watering down the experience it was to film a lot of these trucks, being that none ran consistent routes. Most of the time, running into one would just be out of pure luck. Once NASA won the small Recycla contract for the Downtown LA area, the majority of the trucks you see in this video were simply put out of service and sent to a "scrap yard" NASA owned not too far from their main yard. To this day I believe many of them still sit there unused, with the occasional truck leaving to help out as a spare on commercial routes, but you would be more likely to find one during one of NASA's cleanup days in the residential areas they service. The current NASA front loader fleet is predominantly Peterbilt 320 and 520 Amrep Front Loaders, and the occasional CNG converted Autocar STS.
