A compilation of footage that has taken me nearly 2 years to get, yet showcases (in my opinion) one of the coolest WM yards in California. Even with a whole new batch of CNG 520 Amreps delivered within the past year, they still manage to run 3 Volvos and 2 Condors somewhat frequently. Here is a taste of their diesel ASL fleet!
0:00 - 101443 - This is some of the first footage I ever got from Atascadero back in May of 2019. This was back when they had a fleet full of these ex-HSS Condor Octos, however this is only 1 of 2 I found that day since the routes were pretty confusing. I eventually came across 443 with a driver who I believe at the time might have been new. Nonetheless, it was a super cool truck to find from Waste Management. Little did I know at time that this unit would be the only Condor Octo to last in the fleet through their transition to CNG 520 Amreps around this time last year!
3:40 - 106212 - After several attempts over the past year, I was finally able to catch the spare Volvo Amrep one Friday morning back in January. At the time, a couple of trucks were down, which allowed them to run the Volvo pretty much everyday for a couple weeks. This truck has quite a bit of history to it as some of you may know. It is a 1996, which in and of itself makes it one of the oldest side loaders WM runs. It is ex-LA and ex-Anderson, repainted at GI a few years back and then sent up to Atascadero sometime in 2019. Huge thanks to Dan for being super chill and even revving a couple times for the camera!
4:44 - 106212 and 101443 - Here are the 2 "spares" for Atascadero tag teaming that same morning. The driver of 443 was in training and following close behind Dan in 212. As you can see, they have refurbished 101443 in the time since I filmed it back in 2019. A new coat of paint and a faster arm are the two main things I noticed. I'm definitely glad they kept the old HSS markings on the tailgate and side of the body.
7:32 - 102745 - A 2007 Condor Amrep Elliptical which I believe is the only one of its kind for Waste Management. Atascadero has had this truck for its entire life. One of the coolest parts of this truck is that it has "Waste Management Atascadero" under the normal WM logo on the tailgate. I filmed this back in December with Isaac during his trip down to California. This is a pretty fast truck even without a whole lot of revving.
10:53 - 101545 - Here is the other Condor Amrep Octo I found on my first trip back in 2019. I wish I could have filmed more at the time, but I remember the driver being not as chill with being filmed. A cool feature about this truck is the modified hopper walls for HSS's 300 gal containers. This truck had likely been repainted not long before I filmed it so it looked super fresh. 101545 now runs out of the HSS Santa Maria yard and I saw it just last week heading into the Vandenberg AFB.
