Chrono Trigger: Enhansa Edition is a hack by inuksuk that rebalances things such as characters, equipment, techs, and so on to provide a harder challenge overall.

To get the patch, you'll need to join the NGPlus discord. A link to join it is located here:

From there, locate the Enhansa Edition channel under the mods tab where you can download the patch from the pinned messages.

Version being played: 0.4.4

Time to leave the prehistoric era and bring back one shiny Dreamstone to Melchior in Medina so he can fix up the Masamune. I do believe having Lucca in your team gives a bit of extra dialogue as the sword's being reforged. Not too sure though.

Once the Masamune's all fixed up, it's a timeskip over to Frog's abode in 600AD to show him the blade. The surprise at seeing the blade in perfect condition shocks Frog enough that he has to ponder this odd turn of events and asks the team to stay overnight.

During the short stay, a flashback occurs where Cyrus seems to want to hunt down a froggy king with his buddy Glenn and locate a mythical sword. That's all well and good...provided you don't run afoul of Ozzie and his master Magus at the Denadoro Mountains. Then you just get owned every which way by the magic master himself as Cyrus demonstrates. Glenn gets off worse by getting zapped, causing his body to spaz out as he falls off the cliff as the flashback ends with Frog lamenting that it's been ten years since the fateful day Cyrus was killed.

When the rest of the team wakes up, Frog says its time to go to Magus's Lair and put all of our efforts into defeating him once and for all, then finally rejoins the party in style by forcing himself into the second party slot.

Once you've decided on your last party member, you'll need to exit the Cursed Woods (right after dispatching another Nu if it shows up for you again like it did here), then head northeast back to Fiona's Villa, then east of there to the Magic Cave.

With Frog in tow, this triggers another flashblack showing Cyrus & Glenn at a younger age in their lives. Glenn is clearly the superior sword master as Cyrus claims, but Glenn feels like he's gonna lose it if he were forced to hurt someone. That pacifism is why Magus was able to off Cyrus, then smack him with a form changing thunderbolt that sends Glenn off the cliffside.

The flashback ends at the base of the mountains with a very familiar Frog. If it wasn't made crystal clear by now...our Frog is the Glenn we've seen in these flashbacks.

All of the flashbacks finally instills Frog with the courage he needs to journey forth and defeat Magus once for all. His absolutely killer theme plays as the Masamune is plunged into the ground, generates electrical energy, then is removed from the ground and used to cleave the wall of rock sealing the cave entrance off...all with a stylish finishing pose as the team enters the cave and control's returned to you.

Frog's offensive power at this point jumps to Ayla levels due to the Masamune with sky high attack and a matching high critical rate. The crit rate actually got buffed in this hack to an impressive 50%.

If that wasn't enough, that Hero Medal isn't just a flashy key item, it's an accessory Frog can equip. What does it do? Gives the Masamune even MORE crit, boosting it by 27% to a total of 77%. If you want Frog to be a crit machine, by all means equip it and go ham. The Masamune's buffed crit rate though means you can opt for another accessory if you prefer something else.

Before advancing towards Magus's Lair though, we need to hightail it back to the End of Time. Frog can wield magic using the element of water so have Spekkio unlock that potential for him. Toma in this room also can unlock everyone's second stat boost now. Make sure to get Frog his upgrades while you're here.

Finally, I did a tiny bit of grinding because Spekkio upgrades his form at lv20...and boy is he on absolute kill mode because his Fire/Ice/Lightning casts do roughly triple the amount of the damage his previous form was dishing out. One shots galore AND being extremely fast on his feet is not a good combination so hopefully you got a good 25-30+ Revives on hand.

For beating Spekkio's 3rd form, you get another Soda Tab along with five Mid Ethers. Worth it!

More next time!
