Hello everyone!
My first collab! I contacted Hashel05 a little while ago to see if he was up to do a collab with me for the Pixel Mixers Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross album on the VGCovers subreddit. Since I already did two other covers that will appear on the album (Singing Mountain and Sealed Door), I figured I'd do one more, but I'd do it as a collab.
Hashel has a knack for making really great sounding clean, ambient covers, but he also occasionally does the odd heavier cover, and this one is one of those covers. Hashel did the arrangement and the mixing, and I did the video editing.
The waveform patterns in the dual keyboard sections in the intro and outro were recorded by pointing the video camera at an analogue oscilloscope, setting the exposure low on the camera and turning off all of the lights in the room so that all that would be recorded would be a green waveform over a black background.
I opted to use the Stratocaster again because that was my main guitar of choice at the time of recording this (besides looking beautiful). To compliment the bright single-coil tones, Hashel used his Eastman T486, which gets a great fat hollow-body tone. I volunteered to do the drums and the keyboards, along with the rhythm guitars (which worked well with my guitar's bright tone), and Hashel recorded the leads and basslines.
