What's up Geekly Goods fam! 👀 Christopher Abbott and Tom Pelphrey both reportedly auditioned to play Professor X in Marvel's upcoming X-Men reboot, and this news is coming straight from The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision newsletter.
According to the report, Pelphrey has officially been ruled out for the role, but there's been no confirmation either way on Christopher Abbott, meaning he could very well still be in the running to become our new Charles Xavier. If he does land the part, he'd actually be the second-youngest actor to ever play Professor X, following James McAvoy. There's also been persistent chatter about Bill Skarsgård being considered for the role, though reports on that front have remained mixed, with some outlets treating it with real skepticism and others still floating him as a genuine contender.
With Emma Frost, Jean Grey, and Cyclops already locked in, and more names like Cailee Spaeny, Adam Driver, and Jon Hamm circulating for other roles, it really feels like this entire cast is coming together fast. We're expecting a lot more concrete answers at D23, which kicks off August 14th.
