CHOICE SUPER COMPLAINT
The consumer watchdog known as CHOICE is sounding the alarm on unsafe stuff being sold by some big online retailers, including Amazon, Temu, AliExpress, eBay, and Shien. They've filed a long, serious document of seemingly fun products, with some not-so-fun quirks. I'm talking unsafe batteries, missing warning labels, stuff that CHOICE reckon could start a bush fire, and dolls a young kid might fancy, designed to hold a lighter. Most of these items were taken off sale when CHOICE reached out, but it could just be the tip of the iceberg, which is why they've alerted the ACCC. CHOICE can only make one of these so-called 'super complaints' once a year, so they save it for the biggest problems facing consumers. The ACCC says tackling unsafe goods online is a top priority, and it'll be carefully reviewing CHOICE's complaint to make the world a safer place, hopefully.
AUSTRALIA POPULATION
Australia has just hit a new population milestone! The Australian Bureau of Statistics population clock ticked over to a whopping 28 million people yesterday! The population clock works using real-time calculations of births, deaths, and migration, and it's shown an increase of one person every one minute and fifteen seconds! The last milestone of 27 million came in 2024, and most of the new growth has come from migration, with Western Australia recording the fastest growth and Tasmania recording the slowest.

Now over to the Central Coast, where some high school students have planned and run their very own music festival!

First to China's Gansu Province, where these workers are planting a heap of saplings on this 153-hectare patch of steep land, using drones to do their heavy lifting, literally. It's the first time drones have been used for this purpose in the area, and they say it's made the job an absolute breeze, saving both time and a lot of back pain, I'm sure, which many hope will accelerate forest regeneration.
ROBOT WALKING FISH
And now, to fish, and the humans trying to understand how they've played into evolution. The details of how they did that are a bit of a mystery, so researchers have decided to reverse engineer the answers by building robots inspired by crawling fish. And now, this thing exists. It's helped them learn more about how fish move on land: by pressing their heads into the ground and then swinging their tails to push themselves. Not super elegant, but they had to make do with what they had, I guess.
